The Bede Griffiths Sangha (Sanskrit for community) was established in 1994, shortly after Father Bede’s death. It seeks to share and continue his vision through meditation, prayer and contemplative sharing. The Sangha is not dedicated to the preservation of one man’s name, but to the furthering of his vision, which was the renewal of contemplative life, seeking the one truth at the heart of all religions.
Over the last thirty years we have offered retreats based on the rhythm of the day at Shantivanam. We have shared in the celebration of mass in the Indian style, and in our worship, we include Indian music, and readings from all the religious traditions. At the present time we only offer the occasional silent retreat called ‘Hermits in Company’. Notice of these will be posted in our Mailchimp Newsletter.
Since the Great Pandemic we have joined together once a month to pray, meditate and share reflections in our on-line offering, Zoom Ashram.
We send out Bede Griffiths News with Mailchimp. To subscribe to this please complete the box on the right side of this page. For twenty-five years we published a newsletter three or four times a year, and this can be found on our archive page.
You can see below the ‘working group’ of volunteers who facilitate the day to day running of the Sangha.
